Brain Science: The Argument for Inclusive Education for ALL Children

Child-centred models focus on encouraging the child to do/learn/explore something themselves, which encourages a love of learning in the child and supports better neurological development in children who may have impairments.

WHO SHOULD TAKE THIS COURSE?
Target audience: for people working with children aged 0-8 years

Frontline workers/services providers in health, education and social services (e.g. paediatricians, psychologists, speech therapists, neurologists, physiotherapists, inclusive education teachers and classroom assistants)
Management personnel for health, education and social service providers

WHAT YOU WILL GAIN FROM THIS COURSE
Tools
This course is designed to give you the tools you need to assess a child’s functional ability in language, cognition, fine & gross motor skills and behaviour in order to create a development plan according to their needs.
You will be able to use the functional assessments and development plans with any child that you work with.
Practical skills
This course is designed to improve your existing experience so that you can provide better quality services for children
Theoretical knowledge
COURSE OUTLOOK
This is the first course developed under an initiative between UAFA and the Centre for Child and Human Development at Georgetown University, Washington DC. The long-term aim is to build an Academic Centre for Child Health, Education and Social Development which will provide Azerbaijan’s first internationally-accredited degree courses for people working with children.

The certificate will be provided by the Centre for Child and Human Development at Georgetown University

This Foundation course will give the student credits towards a full bachelors/masters degree in future (limited to partnering universities in Azerbaijan only)

COURSE OUTLINE
2-hour sessions twice-weekly for 12 weeks, at the end of which core competencies will be tested by the faculty and evaluated by Georgetown University staff (online) for certification.
COURSE DETAILS
If you miss more than 2 sessions, you will not receive a certificate.
No more than 15 places per course – evening/weekends.
Course will be offered 3 times per year, depending on demand.
